Hello and welcome to my site. I'm Mitch Ahrens, a native Texan living in Brooklyn. I'm a nerd for the newest technology and spend my days learning new things. I pass the time in Prospect Park either running the trails or walking my two dachshunds, Franks and Lily.
My interest in coding came about during a time when I was a full-time photographer looking to showcase my photo portfolio on the web. Fast forward a few years and technology, programming, and design are now my life. When I'm not exploring the world through the viewport, I'm out exploring the world through the viewfinder. These are the technologies and programs I normally use (or have used) when working on projects.

I love front-end development. UX/UI and web design are things I have come to appreciate. I have delved into design for better understanding, as I think it is important to be as well rounded as one can. This applies to both work and life. I prefer to be a jack of all trades and my main goal is to become as close to full stack as I can.
I am well aware that a first draft rarely comes close to ticking all the boxes for a client and that communication between all parties is vital. I never give up on trying to find a solution to the situation. I’m currently working on some designs and projects, some of which are shown below. Check out my resumé.

Clean Water Austin logo

illustratorClean Water Austin is a nonprofit founded by Ron Merril of Austin, TX. Ron needed some ideas for a new logo. His ambitions for keeping Austin waterways clean inspired many renditions. Ultimately, you gotta keep the turtles happy. Detailed project page coming soon.

A simple site built on the Bootstrap framework for a client. I created the mockup and built out a prototype. This project is still currently in progress. The deliverables include a standalone site as well as a related WordPress blog theme. Details coming soon!

Created out of the need for a responsive site as this company was about to move their product to mobile platforms. I submitted a series of mockups to convey the possibilities of a more responsive site and took on a project lead role.
